Nintendo screWii...!

Remember when I said in my last post that we're already used to get "screwii" by Nintendo around these parts! Let me prove to you guys that this is not just something that I came up with... Nintendo Wii was launched in Europe on 8th of December, just in time for Christmas! until now and let me remind you guys that we're already in February, in Portugal it's still not possible to try the "wiimote" and is umbilical bro "nunchuck", not even at stores like Toys 'r' us... and to prove it, let me show a pic (taken by the Blue Ranger while shopping ;) of the Wii section on one of the greatest stores (Fnac) here in Portugal!

Voila!

Yellow Ranger "nunchucks" his knees! (Whatever that means!? sounds cool dough ;)

At last! European PS3 launch

After being delayed, seems like this time there's no turning back...
Sony announced (like 3 days ago!) that the PS3 will be launched in Europe on 23rd March 2007. It was about time, seems like "everyone else has had more Fun than me!" for the last couple of months...

We're already used to get "screwii" by Nintendo around these parts! let's hope this was a one-off from Sony and that won't happen again for at least the next, let's say... 60 years ;) I'm joking of course! but nobody likes to be left to the last and unfortunately it wasn't the first and it won't be the last time something like this happens, anyway, moving on...

Xbox 360 Tilt Controller!

What!?... yep! it's true, seems like nowadays everything imaginable can be conceivable, well more or less (where's my time machine? and my Warp 10 intergalactic spaceship!?) sometimes you're not sure if you're actually infringing some patents (btw, this reminds me of Gamasutra's article - "The Ten Most Important Video Game Patents" nowadays, everyone wants to patent something, even if it's something really ridiculous, like patenting the way you throw a brick! - you may be thinking "- that's a complete nonsense!" well, not actually... with a piece of paper explaining how you throw the brick and a little bit of blabla talk! and you may manage something out of that!) It's "amazing" (not to say another word) what people can register... Videogames are not different from the rest, there's also some "crappy" patents haunting this particular world, nothing we can do about it! Just try to go around it or as we say: "pay the man!"

Well, one thing's for sure, nobody can take Adam Thole's newest achievement away from his hands, he invested two and a half weeks of his worthy time, to came out with this fully functioning motion sensor with a 2-axis accelerometer (it's not quite like the PS3's 6 axis motion sensor, but hey! better this than nothing!). There are more details (including video demos) on his site for those looking to emulate this mod, and Adam claims that he may even hack a wireless controller for version two! and what about that!? (I'm just gonna sit and wait for the rumble feature to be implemented on the PS3 controller... did you read this Adam? ;)

Yellow Ranger compares his PS2 with the PS3 controller... and cries!

Are you one of those people that buys "action figures"? And then never opens them and keeps them on the wall etc? Then my friend, get help.

On the other hand if you like Lego and i mean LIKE Lego and play video games, you will definitly want one of these, courtesy of the Arcade Flyer Archive

Capcom and LEGO joined forces in 1999 to bring you Strider Hiryu and some colored bricks. Awesome. Just awesome. Now, if only my Ranger salary allowed me to import such a thing.

Micro-Gimmemoney

So, i finally gave a run on the Xbox 360 Live thingy to try everything, and i mean EVERYTHING. I played Gears of War online, offline, online co-op, offline co-op, splitscreen and multi-shit. I tried Arcade Live's Geometry Wars, been on the ranking boards, talked trash on the microphone to other players and downloaded every piece of crap i could find.

But then something happened.
I saw something called "microsoft points" and i went "what the fuck?".
The shit had hit the fan.
I was confused, i finally started reading words and phrases and soon found out my Gold account was free until the end of the month. If i wanted more online love i would have to pay up. This was weird since i already payed for the console, the games, the internet connection and for some stupid batteries for the pad (batteries on the pad... some sort of joke) and now i will have to pay every month for this?
Plus i tried to change my account name and guess what? You pay for it sucker!

Oh well, at least i had fun while it lasted, i mean, on the PC i don't have to pay to play online, on the PS2 and PSP i never had to and on the PS3 i wont need to either, so why pay on Xbox Live?
Besides, a Ranger salary is very good but keeping our suits and spaceships working is expensive, we can't afford this type of things.

Red out

We are back.

At least i am back. After half a year in hiding i want again to write stuff on the web for you to read. There were reasons for me to hide, plenty of them, the launch of a new console is always scary, take this example.

This is reason enough to have a blog in blank for six months isn't it? Well, i think it is and now i am back. The other two guys must still be on the forest fighting the middle bosses or something.

I am afraid.
